IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. -- A Statesville man stole a woman’s checks and tried to cash them at several area Foodlion stores, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
Police arrested Corey Combs, 33, on Friday.
A manager at the Foodlion on Turnersburg Highway alerted the victim to a man trying to use her checks in early October. She was also given several notices for unpaid checks through TeleCheck.
Detectives used surveillance video to identify Combs as the suspect. Through the investigation, police learned he was trying to pass checks at several local Foodlion locations.
Combs is charged with larceny and seven counts of obtaining property by false pretense. He was booked into the Iredell County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.
