Man leads police on chase before crashing in Myers Park

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Stallings police arrested a man after he led them a chase through Charlotte early Thursday morning.

Police said  Shea Arend led them on a chase through Stallings and into Myers Park before crashing his vehicle at Selwyn Avenue and Colony Road around 2 a.m.

Officers tried to pull Arend over for an illegal turn on Stallings Road, but instead he tried to ram a patrol car before leading police on a chase.

Arend tried running after crashing his car at the intersection, but officers were able to track him down.

Police said Arend had two warrants out for his arrest.

Arend was charged with possession of cocaine, failure to stop for a blue light, speeding to elude arrest, stop sign violation and probation violation.

No one was injured during the incident.
