LAKE WYLIE, S.C. -- Authorities are investigating a shooting at a Burger King in Lake Wylie.
The York County Sheriff's Office said the shooting happened around 6 p.m. at the Burger King on Highway 557.
Deputies said a couple and child were heading from Gastonia to York and were in the Burger King drive-thru when a man approached their vehicle.
The suspect went to the passenger side and exchanged words with the victim before shooting the man, according to police.
After the shooting, the girlfriend drove away and headed towards Carolinas Medical Center in Steele Creek, but pulled into the boat landing and called 911, according to police.
The victim was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
In a police statement the girlfriend identified the suspect by a nickname and authorities were able to identify the assailant as Kevin Allison.
Police are still searching for Allison.
