CORNELIUS, N.C -- Emergency crews had to rescue a man who became stuck in mud near a pond in Cornelius Thursday morning.
The man was surveying the basin, trying to locate the bottom of the bay around 9 a.m. off of Jetton Road.
The man, Chris Allmon, says the ground seemed to be solid, but he quickly sunk into the mud.
Allmon says his feet started to go numb while the bottom half of his body was submerged.
Rescue crews tried to free Allmon with trees, but the more they pulled, the further he sunk into the mud. But luckily, emergency crews were able to pull the man from the mud without any serious injuries.
Medic check Allmon out, then he returned to work.
