Deputies serving warrant find marijuana growing operation

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Mecklenburg County sheriff's deputies say they busted a marijuana growing operation Thursday while serving a warrant.
Deputies went to Jason Collender's home on Julia Avenue in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood because he was accused of assaulting a female.
Deputies said they smelled marijuana when they went inside the home.
Deputies seized 41 pot plants and equipment used to cultivate marijuana.
Collender faces several charges.
