CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Star Lotulelei stands 6-foot-4, 340 pounds. At those dimensions’ fitting-in is tough, but he will be absolutely perfect for the Panthers’ interior defensive line.

Star came into the draft as one of the most highly-touted talents in the nation.

During a three-year, 38-game run playing for the University of Utah, the All-America lineman tallied 107 tackles, seven sacks, five fumble recoveries and four forced fumbles.

A medical scare dropped him out of the top 10, which is why Carolina was able to select him with the fourteenth pick. He has since been medically cleared to play football and every exam since has shown his heart is in good health.

The Panthers wouldn't have selected him had there been serious concerns about his durability.

He is a load of a player commanding double and triple teams which is exactly what Carolina needs to free up Greg Hardy and Charles Johnson.

A noted run-stopper, Star will be more than capable of plugging the middle to keep opposing running backs from taking a free ride down the field between the tackles.
