Police: Speed likely a factor in Mint Hill deadly wreck

MINT HILL, N.C -- One person was killed and two others were injured in an accident on Bain School Road near Lawyers Road Wednesday evening.

The crash happened shortly after 8 p.m. when police said the driver hit a tree on Bain School Road.

Enrique Omar Ochoa, 23, was killed after being thrown from the vehicle.

Cameron Thomas Wells, 18, and Brandon Scott Smith, 19, were seriously injured in the crash. They were both rushed to Carolinas Medical Center where they remain in critical condition, according to police.

Investigators are still trying to determine who was driving the car when the wreck happened.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, however, police believe speed may be a factor..
