CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A mother says her 17-year-old daughter was set up for an armed robbery that turned into the girl’s murder.

Vontisue Patterson also says her daughter, Aerial Patterson, knew one of her alleged killers, Eddie Doh.

Court records say Doh also robbed the girl at gunpoint and stole her cell phone and taser.

According to someone close to Patterson, this is what happened in the days, hours and minutes before Patterson was robbed and murdered in the Steele Creek area.

The friend says Patterson met Doh at a house in the Steele Creek area Friday and says Patterson even mentioned Doh because she knew him from another part of town.

That friend didn’t know the purpose of the visit, but says Patterson, who he calls a great girl, was doing anything she could to survive, including prostitution, after running away from home in Ohio eight months ago.

That same friend says Patterson went to a different house Saturday in Steele Creek, this time on Arbroath Court.

The friend says after about an hour he became worried about Patterson when she didn't answer multiple phone calls and text messages.

The friend went back to the house and found Patterson dead in the yard with her jacket, phone and taser she used for protection all stolen.

Vontisue Patterson says Aerial met Doh when she first moved to Charlotte and was now trying to avoid him.

"She found out what type of person he was.  She wouldn't deal with him anymore until this happened and I don't know how she ended up around him, but she didn't deal with him anymore,” Patterson said.

Police arrested Doh and Nicholas Wright for robbing and murdering Patterson.

That friend says he thinks the murder was to stop Patterson from talking about the robbery.

Her mom thinks it was a setup from the beginning.

“I don't understand it.  I don't know and that's why I say something was set up. You can't tell me differently.  Something was set up,” Patterson said.

CMPD is not commenting about this case.
