BELMONT, N.C. -- Randi Saldana was living with her boyfriend, Tim Gause, in an all-but-empty foreclosed home in Gastonia last month.
On Veteran's Day, Gause has said Saldana left to see a friend and he never saw her again. Her body was later found burned in some woods at Kings Mountain State Park.
The location of her body is about five or six miles from where the body of 17-year old Heather Catterton was found just two weeks before in a field outside of Clover, S.C.
So where did Saldana go when she left the rundown house in Gastonia that final day? Mike Wilson says she came to see him.
Wilson lives in Belmont in a house with ominous warning signs on the doors and windows aimed at keeping strangers off his property.
He told NewsChannel 36 that Saldana was a new friend and that she had come over for a couple of hours to visit and help him clean up a bit around the house.
Wilson says he believes Saldana may have been killed because she had information about what happened to Heather Catterton. Saldana and Catterton knew each other and Saldana visited Catterton's family after her death to offer her sympathies.
Wilson says he later dropped Saldana off back in Gastonia near an apartment complex where the father of her children was living. He says she wanted to visit the kids.
Wilson says he has been questioned by police and said he has no idea who might have murdered either of the girls.
York County detectives are still not saying how the women died or even if they believe the deaths are connected.
