CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Do you live in North Carolina or South Carolina?
Nowadays several people living along the state line can't answer that question.
The line was drawn back in the 1700's and was quite literally mapped out on trees. As developers came in, the boundaries were wiped out.
On Tuesday the South Carolina-North Carolina Joint Boundary Commission met to give homeowners some answers.
Nearly 100 property owners received letters that they may be affected by the state line evaluation. For some homeowners, they can't wait to get a definitive answer.
“My home is in the clear and I will proudly be able to say I’m a South Carolinian for many years to come,” said David Patterson, a South Carolina homeowner.
