CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Several new roads that were scheduled to open ahead of the final part of completing Interstate 485 north Charlotte will be delayed due to weather.

A new part of Eastfield Road from Highway 115 to Browne Road and Independence Hill Road will now open Friday at 3 p.m. Also Dixon Farm Road will open into Eastfield Road on Friday.

These changes were supposed to start Wednesday, but impending rainy weather has delayed that. Part of the I-485 project should be complete in two years.

Drivers should prepare for new signals at Independence Road and Eastfield Road, and signals at Alexander Road and Eastfield will be removed and replaced with stop signs.
