CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- About 2,000 Fort Jackson soldiers traveled through the Charlotte Douglas Airport on Thursday and got a special holiday treat thanks to the nonprofit Charlotte Chorale.

For the fifth year, the singing group is collecting $1 donations for its “Buy a Biscuit” program to give to the service members a warm sausage biscuit when that began arriving by bus at 4:30 a.m. on their journey home for the holidays.

The program is part of an ongoing partnership with the Chorale and the airport's USO of NC Charlotte Center.
“We are so thankful for the support the Charlotte Chorale provides the USO of NC,” Megan Grady, director of the USO center, said.

“Whether with performers that honor our nation by singing the National anthem at our events, collecting goods and donations to support the over 95,000 military families our Charlotte center serves each year, or volunteering at the airport center or community events, the Chorale makes a difference in the lives of those we serve.”
