CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Police will be keeping an eye on the roads Tuesday night as Charlotte celebrates New Year’s Eve.

A new DUI Task Force will also patrol local roads. Since November, officers have made more than 100 arrests for driving while impaired. There will be checkpoints across the city through the night and into the morning.

Bars, too, like the Dilworth Neighborhood Grill, are also making moves to prevent customers from drinking too much.

“One is alerting all the cab companies that we have a big event and to be prepared, so they can pick up some of our customers. We also put the cab numbers around our restaurant and in pamphlets we hand out to our guests that come in, so they can have easy access to call the cab companies,” owner Norm Randall said.

Customers should keep in mind the wait for a cab could be longer on New Year’s Eve.

Local cab company numbers:

Crown Cab: (704) 334-6666

Diamond Cab: (704) 333-3030

City Cab: (704) 333-3327

Yellow Cab: (704) 444-4444

Professional Cab of Charlotte: (704) 525-3000

All City Transportation: (704) 333-3030
