CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police are investigating an accident that killed one man on Sunday in south Charlotte.
The accident happened Sunday at 6 p.m. on 3124 Providence Road, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
Sharon Amity Road and Rutledge Avenue were briefly closed along Providence Road while emergency crews worked the scene.
Officials said Adrian Francisco Sanchez, 22, was driving southbound when he lost control and drove off the side of the road -- striking a utility pole.
Investigators said the cause of the collision is still under investigation but it did not appear that alcohol was a factor.
According to police, Sanchez was the only person inside the vehicle.
The wreck knocked out power to hundreds in the area around Providence Road and Sharon Amity Road.
