CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A crash in a Charlotte intersection left one man dead and two others hurt Saturday.
Emergency crews responded to the 1400 block of Eastway Drive just after 3:30 p.m. for the collision.
Investigators said a 1992 Honda Civic, driven by Ramon Bonilla, made a right turn from Shamrock Drive onto Eastway Drive – authorities say Bonilla crossed the median and struck a 2001 BMW head on.
Bonilla was pronounced dead on the scene.
A passenger in Bonilla’s car was thrown through the passenger windshield during the impact – authorities said that passenger has serious injuries.
The driver of the BMW is expected to be okay.
Authorities believe speed was a factor in the crash. They’re also trying to determine if alcohol a factor for Bonilla, they’ve determined it was not a factor for the driver of the BMW.
