CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- One person died in a motorcycle crash in south Charlotte Thursday evening.
It happened around 6:45 p.m. at North Sharon Amity and Castleton Road.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say Paul Stephenson, 51, was traveling south on North Sharon Amity Road in the right-hand lane, when a Lincoln Town Car driven by Kanyon Carter, 39, made a left-hand turn in front of Stephenson's motorcycle.
Stephenson applied the brakes and laid the motorcycle down on its right side, sliding on the pavement into the side of the Lincoln, striking the front passenger door, police say.
MEDIC responded to the crash and pronounced Stephenson on the scene. Authorities say he was wearing a full-faced helmet.
Carter was arrested and charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and driving while license revoked. His bond was set at $7500.
Neither speed or alcohol were factors in the crash, police say.
