ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. -- The Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run crash in Alexander County that killed a pedestrian.
It happened south of Taylorsville at the intersection of Old Mountain and Smith Farm Roads. According to troopers, a driver discovered the victim lying in the roadway around 2:53 a.m. Tuesday and called police.
The Highway Patrol says Old Mountain Road is expected to be closed between Drumstand Road and Old Concord Church Road for much of the day as troopers investigate.
Troopers tell NewsChannel 36 that they believe the vehicle involved in the crash was heading towards Iredell County, and it should have damage to its front, left side and windshield.
