CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say an impaired pedestrian jaywalked across Billy Graham Parkway and was struck and killed Monday night.
Just before 10 p.m., police say a black male, approximately 30-years-old was struck by a 2001 Toyota Camry in the 4900 block of Billy Graham Parkway.
Police say the victim was attempting to cross Billy Graham Parkway outside of a crosswalk, and was impaired at the time he was struck. Police did not comment on what kind of substances may have been in the man's system.
The victim was taken to Carolina's Medical Center with life threatening injuries; he died at the hospital Tuesday as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.
The victim has not been identified, pending the notification of next of kin.
Speed was not a factor in the crash, police say, and the CMPD crash unit is continuing to investigate.
