CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The pedestrian who was struck on I-485 Friday has died.
The crash caused a major pile up near Pineville around 9 p.m. According to Highway Patrol, Billy Vale, 46 of Clover, South Carolina, hit a patch of ice on I-485 and was out of his vehicle and standing on the interstate at the time of impact.
A second vehicle traveling behind Vale’s car also hit a patch of ice causing their vehicle to hit Vale. He later died at Carolina’s Medical Center.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and currently no one is facing charges.
