CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Drivers are getting a crash course-- in parking in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood.

It's been an issue since they put in parking spots that require reverse-angle parking.

People aren’t parking in them correctly, so on Thursday, city leaders showed them how it's done.

They say parking at the reverse angle allows for more space and more safety.

Jim Keenan, City of Charlotte program manager explains, "When you are backed into one of these spaces and you pull out, you’ve got a real clear sight line down the street to see if there is anyone coming."

In particular, city officials want a safer environment for bicyclists.

CDot will begin handing out tickets on April 1 to drivers who don't reverse park correctly.
