Police investigate murder on North Tryon

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said a man was killed after being assaulted on North Tryon Street Wednesday morning.

Police were called to the 7-Eleven on North Tryon Street near Dalton Avenue around 7 a.m. after a man was assaulted and showed up at the store.

When police arrived on scene, they discovered 48-year-old Robert Ray Myers bleeding from injuries he sustained during the incident.

A few moments later, MEDIC arrived on the scene and pronounced Myers dead.

Police have blocked one lane of North Tryon Street while authorities investigate the incident. Investigators believe Myers was attacked elsewhere and came to the store for help.
