The first collision occurred on Sunday around 5:30 p.m. Officials say 18-year-old Travis Lamar Vinson was traveling northbound on foot on the train tracks in the area of Magnolia Crossing Circle in Concord when he was struck by an Amtrak train, also heading northbound.

Then, on Monday afternoon, authorities say 49-year-old William Floyd Jones, 49, of Kannapolis, was struck by a Norfolk-Southern train, as both headed southbound on the tracks near the 3600 block of South Ridge Avenue in Concord.
