MATTHEWS, N.C. – Police say the man who claimed to be in the passenger seat in a February accident that killed a motorcyclist was actually behind the wheel.
Alfredo Luna Morales has been charged with resisting a public officer by obstructing or delaying an investigation and driving without an operator’s license. He previously told police his wife was driving when the accident on Independence Boulevard happened February 19.
He is being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail on an immigration detainer for not being a legal resident of the United States.
Police say the motorcycle was traveling 89 miles per hour when it hit the SUV. Craig Anderson was driving the motorcycle. He and his passenger, Tiffany Johnson, were killed.
