SALISBURY, N.C. – A Salisbury man was arrested Thursday after police say he admitted to molesting an 11-year-old girl and having sex with a dog at his house.
Matthew Darrell Curtner, 29, faces five felony charges after he made the statements to Rowan County detectives earlier this week.
Police say they began the investigation on Wednesday after allegations than the girl was being molested. They spoke with Curtner at his home off of Mount Hope Church Road on Thursday where he was taken into custody.
The report states Curtner told police “that he had in fact been molesting the child for several months, and into last year. He advised anything the child was saying was true and he wanted to be honest about his problems.” The dog is described as a female pit bull and chow mix.
Officers say they interviewed the girl after Curtner allegedly admitted to the offenses.
The report also states Curtner admitted “that he had performed vaginal intercourse on one of the female dogs at his residence.”
Curtner faces three felony counts of first-degree sex offense of a child, crime against nature bestiality and cruelty to an animal by torture. He was placed behind bars on a $1 million secured bond.
More charges are expected, police say.
Curtner is due in court on March 23.
