CHARLOTTE, N.C.— Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating an accident that left a man dead and another that seriously injured a pedestrian.
The deadly accident happened shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday on Queen City Drive near Gateway Boulevard.
Police say Adam Jason Havard, 31, was riding a motorcycle at a high rate of speed when it went over the center line and off of the roadway. Havard was thrown off of the motorcycle and came to rest about 40 feet from the road; he was pronounced dead at the scene
The other accident happened about 30 minutes later at the intersection of South McDowell and 4th Streets.
Police say a woman was trying to cross the street when she was hit by a vehicle. She was transported to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
No word yet on if driver who hit the woman will face any charges.
