CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A man told emergency operators that "American Idol" winner Fantasia Barrino "took a bottle of aspirin" in a 911 call made Monday night.
Audio: Listen to the 911 call
Police released an audio file of the call on Wednesday.
That caller told the 911 operator that Barrino was losing consciousness and had been put in the shower so that she would stay awake.
Operator: OK, is she awake?
Caller: Slowly losing consciousness.
Operator: Is she awake?
Caller: Halfway, yes.
NewsChannel 36 broke the story of Barrino's overdose online Tuesday afternoon.
Her manager released a statement saying Barrino was "overwhelmed" by a lawsuit filed by the wife of Antwaun Cook, alleging Barrino had an affair with her husband and they made a sex tape.
The statement also said, "Fantasia believed Mr. Cook when he told her he was not happy in his marriage and his heart was not in it. She believed him when he told her he and Mrs. Cook separated in the late summer of 2009."
Barrino's manager said the singer was listed in stable condition at a Charlotte hospital and was expected to be released soon.
Meanwhile, executives at VH1 are trying to figure out how Barrino's health scare will affect production of the second season of her reality show. It's scheduled to premiere next month.
VH1 released a statement Wednesday, saying, "We support Fantasia 100 percent and look forward to working with her again soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with her at this difficult time."
