FORT MILL, S.C. – Fort Mill police said they've charged a man with murder after shooting a woman at an apartment complex in Fort Mill on Thursday.
Jackie Lashon Craine, 34, was killed and her 16-year-old son sustained non-life threatening injuries after Enrico Diago, 38, shot them in their vehicle at the Avery Lake apartments on Lestina Drive.
Diago was charged with murder, attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Craine was pronounced dead at Piedmont Medical Center shortly after being transported from the scene.
Witnesses tell NewsChannel 36 they heard lots of gun fire during the incident.
"I heard about six or seven gunshots," said neighbor Dawn Wing. "Then I started to hear a bunch of sirens, and the police were at the door asking me what I had seen or heard."
Police said Diago and Craine apparently had a prior relationship.
