CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- New polling numbers show North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue is the most disliked Governor in all of America.
New data from Public Policy Polling shows 59 percent of voters are unhappy with the job she is doing, while only 30 percent approve of her work. Out of 40 sitting Governors PPP has polled, Perdue's approval rating is the lowest.
Perdue's approval rating was at 37 percent at the end of 2011.
"Perdue has an opportunity right now to help improve her standing with the Democratic base by vetoing the fracking bill the House passed yesterday. A recent PPP poll conducted for a private client found that North Carolina Democrats oppose fracking by an almost 2:1 margin," PPP said.
Perdue's numbers took a downturn when she announced she would not seek re-election, and Democrats have turned their backs the most, PPP numbers show.
"In December she had a net +30 approval with 58% of them approving of her to 28% who disapproved. That's now dropped all the way down to +9 with only 47% giving her good marks and 38% unhappy," PPP added.
Republican Pat McCrory, the former Mayor of Charlotte, is batting Democratic Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton for Perdue's seat.
Last week McCrory began trying to reinforce a connection between Dalton and Perdue in a new television commercial.
