RALEIGH, N.C. -- A big endorsement came on Monday for a candidate running for governor of North Carolina.

President Bill Clinton announced his endorsement of Lt. Governor Walter Dalton for Governor.

Clinton literally voiced his support for Dalton with a 'robocall' campaign that dialed into the homes of thousands of North Carolina voters.

In the robocall, Clinton said,"Walter Dalton has a real plan to improve North Carolina’s schools and create jobs. I trust Walter Dalton and I am proud to stand with him to protect students, seniors, and working families and get North Carolina moving again. So on Tuesday, remember to vote Walter Dalton for Governor."

"I am honored to have the support of President Clinton," said Dalton. "More than anyone, President Clinton knows how to grow our economy and protect the middle class and I have a detailed plan to do the same for North Carolina, which is why he is supporting me. The stakes couldn't be higher and as voters look at who will fight for them, things are breaking our way."
