CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte real estate attorney convicted of mortgage fraud is asking for a new trial.
Last year a federal jury found Victoria Sprouse guilty of making false statements to banks, mail fraud and bank fraud.
Prosecutors say Sprouse was the "closer" in a mortgage scheme that illegally flipped more than 200 homes. They say Sprouse and her alleged accomplices made more than $5 million in the scheme.
Sprouse was supposed to be sentenced Thursday, but her attorneys filed a motion for a new trial.
So far, the judge has not made a decision.
