GASTON COUNTY, N.C. – Police say a young Gaston County mother was driving drunk, with her 2-year-old son sitting in the back seat, when she wrecked her car.

After the crash, police say 23-year-old Tia Marie Bradley jumped out of her wrecked Nissan and ran to a nearby restaurant, telling worried spectators not to call the police.

But officers arrived a few minutes later and arrested her.

She faces a number of charges, including driving with a revoked license, hit and run, DWI and child abuse.

Court documents show that she is still awaiting trial on two other DWI charges, including one from just last month.

A judge today upped her bond to $100,000.

That same judge raised her boyfriend’s bond.

Stephen Stiffler is also charged with child abuse because investigators believe he and Bradley were drinking together before he allowed her to leave with their son.

The child was taken to the hospital after the accident because of some minor bruises.

His grandmother is now caring for him.
