5 injured in accident on I-485 at Providence Road

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --  Five people were injured in an accident involving a tractor-trailer carrying a mobile home on I-485 in south Charlotte Wednesday afternoon.

Around 12:30, emergency crews were dispatched to the I-485 inner loop just past Providence Road toward Rea Road in reference to a crash involving a car and a big-rig hauling a mobile home.

The Charlotte Fire Department said they had to rescue one victim that was trapped in a car, and officials say five people were injured, three of whom officials say may have potentially life threatening injuries. The extent of their injuries has not yet been released by authorities.

All five people have been transported to CMC Main.

A medical helicopter arrived on the scene around 12:45 p.m. but did not take any victims.

All lanes of I-485 inner loop are now open.
