ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Thanks to Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, a rising senior at Winthrop University will receive a free year of college.
Richardson created a $500,000 scholarship in honor of his wife, Rosalind. She attended Winthrop in the 1950s.
The new scholarship will be available in the fall of 2010. A recipient will be announced every year at convocation.
