CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The family of a teenager killed in an officer-involved shooting is requesting the SBI’s involvement in the investigation.
Officers shot Walker during a drug sting operation outside of Hidden Valley Elementary on June 18. He died from his injuries.
Under state law, the district attorney must ask for the SBI to investigate once a family member of a person killed by a law enforcement officer makes a request.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department also investigated.
Police say Walker and 17-year-old Davion Drayton were at the school to sell marijuana to an undercover officer. Police took Drayton into custody.
