SC lawmakers consider increasing speed limit to 80 mph

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- A South Carolina lawmaker is proposing a speed limit increase on the state's interstates and freeways.

Rep. Todd Rutherford of Richland County has sponsored House Bill 4185, which would increase the maximum speed limit to 80 mph. The current maximum speed limit is 70 mph.

The bill is being discussed by a House committee.
