SALISBURY, N.C. -- In what has become a familiar site for people who live near Mildred Avenue in Salisbury, several police cars conducted a raid Wednesday on at least one house on that road near Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
"I saw several cars this morning,” said one neighbor who did not want to be identified.
Police told NBC Charlotte that they have been to the house in the 200 block of Mildred more than once. It’s at least one of five houses police often respond to on that street.
When NBC Charlotte checked records, we discovered that officers have made calls for warrants and other crimes more than a dozen times over the last year-and-a-half at the house raided Wednesday.
Neighbors blame the problem on the houses that are rented out without penalty when someone runs afoul of the law.
"They lock them up and then they're back on the street the next day, that day even," said a witness.
No official word yet on any arrests made after Wednesday’s raid.
