CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A museum under fire for denying a Charlotte girl in a wheelchair has terminated the employee responsible.

Lexi, 11, was not let in to a Savannah’s Ships of the Sea Maritime museum because she needed to use a specialized wheelchair for her rare brain condition, rather than a museum wheelchair.

The museum has since fired the employee who turned the girl away, NBC Charlotte has learned. Management has also issued an apology to the family.
