YORK COUNTY, S.C.  -- Dive teams called off their search of Lake Wylie near the Buster Boyd Bridge late Saturday night after the person reported missing was found safe at his cabin in North Carolina.

Rescue crews were called in around 10 p.m. Saturday to search for the man, whose friends reported him missing.  Authorities didn't release his name.

After a two-hour search in the dark waters between the bridge and the sheriff's office boat landing on Liberty Hill Road, York County deputies were informed that the man was at home.

Apparently the man's friends didn't know where they were, either.

Authorities arrested John Shefte, he is charged with boating under the influence and operating under the influence.  Steffani Chase was also arrested, she's charged with public disorderly conduct.

They were transported to the York County Detention Center, the pair has since been released.

Search crews were just relieved there was no victim who drowned, said Emergency Management Director Cotton Howell.

Roughly 50-75 search crew members from a number of departments, including Charlotte Fire Dept. dive team, assisted with the search.
