CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Secret Service Officials have contacted NewsChannel 36 in regards to the video that caught an agent speeding and driving erratically on I-77 the afternoon of Sunday, May 20.

An agent with the Secret Service's Office of Professional Responsibility, tells NewsChannel 36 they take the complaint very seriously and wants us to hand over contact information for the person who recorded the video.

“I told him we had gotten not one but three complaints of the same car driving erratically, pulling in front of vehicles and then braking, a dangerous practice known as ‘brake-checking’,” said NewsChannel 36’s I-Team Investigative Reporter Stuart Watson.

“As an investigative reporter, I would never just hand over a name or phone number or any other identifying information for a source or a tipster who had contacted me in confidence,” explained Watson.

The I-Team offered to contact the tipsters and pass along  the Secret Service's contact information.

NewsChannel 36 has reached two of the people who contacted us, including the man who shot the video and uploaded it to YouTube.  Another driver who was on I-77 that day says he witnessed the black Dodge Charger driving erratically. Both seemed amendable to at least speaking to the investigating agent.

The agent explained that the Office of Professional Responsibility does not prosecute anyone but rather conducts internal investigations for the Secret Service.
