CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Officials with Charlotte's Storm Water Services say a broken storm water pipe caused a sink hole in the inbound land of Providence Road Tuesday morning.
The sink hole formed near the intersection of Queens Road in the Myers Park area. A section of northbound Providence Road was closed while the NCDOT made repairs. Crews worked overnight and through Wednesday morning to correct the problem. The road reopened by Wednesday afternoon.

CMPD told NBC Charlotte the front end of a car became stuck in the hole just before 6 a.m. Tuesday. The vehicle had to be towed and the driver wasn't injured.
Motorists were told to avoid the area and crews did not set up a detour. The road is maintained by the state.
Residents called the closure frustrating.
"Just taking my daughter to pre-school this morning was a feat in itself. So, I had to go a round about way and I was late getting there," said Myers Park resident Lynn Petillo on Tuesday.
