CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- A West Ashley man is charged in the shooting death of his adoptive mother.
Charleston Police Cpl. Fred Bowie said Tuesday 21-year-old Walker Pinkleton is charged with murder.
Pinkleton was arrested Monday and charged with grand larceny after police spotted him driving a car belonging to his mother, Patricia Walker.
Walker was found shot to death on Sunday in their home. Authorities say Pinkleton told friends and relatives over the weekend that Walker couldn't come to the phone or go outside.
Police said the woman's parents called police on Sunday and said they had not heard from her in several days. Deputy County Coroner Scott Ramsey says an autopsy pinpointed Walker's time of death between Friday night and Saturday morning.
It wasn't known if Pinkleton had an attorney.
