CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The annual SouthPark tree lighting is this evening from 5-9 at the SouthPark bandshell.
It starts in the parking lot of Dick's Sporting Goods with activities for kids along with food and entertainment.
At 7 p.m. the children's choir from Sharon Elementary School hits the stage and Santa will make an appearance to help light the tree.
They're showing the movie 'elf' at 7:30. The event is free. Families are encouraged with bring a blanket or chair to hand out on the lawn.
