CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A 16-year-old student was arrested Thursday after police say he assaulted a school employee.

Kendell Surles attends Turning Point Academy, formerly Derida Alternative school, and is accused of assaulting an employee.

Turning Point Academy is a diverse school that serves students who have received long-term suspensions.
