CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Mecklenburg County Democratic planned a rally Saturday for women’s rights.
It’s in response to a controversial abortion bill on Governor McCrory’s desk.
It began around 10 a.m. at Government Center Plaza. Local representative Beck Carney was one of several politicians on hand, along with members of Planned Parenthood.
“The goal is to remind the governor we remember the promise he made not to sign any new restrictions on a woman’s right to choose. It’s looking like he’s getting ready to go back on that promise. We want to remind him that we haven’t forgotten,” attendee Jeff Jackson said.
Jackson says the reason behind the rally is also because opponents were not given enough time to fight the bill.
