ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Rock Hill police responded to a burglary call on Tuesday and found the alleged burglar hiding underneath a bed.
"I was in shock for awhile," said homeowner Jennifer Porter. "The police got here and they found the guy up under our bed. I had a real hard time sleeping last night."
Porter says a family friend just happened to be driving by and saw a strange man walk up to the front porch, knock on the front door and then go around back. The friend called Porter, who then called police.
Investigators say it appears the man kicked in the door. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a muddy footprint on the door. Porter says they also found her most expensive possessions packaged and ready to go.
"They had our TV on the couch," Porter said.
Officers say they found Charles Gordon under the bed. He was arrested and charged with burglary and grand larceny.
Later in the night, Porter says her husband found something else.
"He went in the room to fix the bed. He lifted up the box springs and there was a gun on the floor. We don't have a gun," Porter said.
The Porters turned the gun over to police. Meanwhile, Porter says she was shaken by the break-in.
"You don't feel safe in your own home," she said.
