CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are asking for help in identifying two men who broke in to a high-end Dilworth boutique.

The men threw a rock and smashed the front window of Sloan on East Boulevard around 2:30 a.m. on April 29.

Surveillance pictures show that they knocked down a mannequin, ran inside the store, grabbed armfuls of designer jeans and took off. One crook also took several handbags.

"Jeans are an easy resale item--on the street, on the black market, on Ebay," explained Sloan employee Bess York.

The crime happened so quickly that the thieves probably knew what they were looking for.

"(They) ran in, grabbed jeans off the four way and then ran out," York said.

The police report estimates the damage at $13,000.

The store was reopened within hours of the break-in and there's only a small scratch on the floor.

Employees are hopeful that the surveillance pictures will help police identify the men with expensive taste and sticky fingers.

"Someone saw an opportunity and jumped at it," York said.

One surveillance photo shows a guy in a white shirt with an armful of designer jeans.  A guy wearing red made off with handbags.  The jeans cost about $200 each.

Sloan made a point to reopen and restock within hours of the crime.

If you have any information on this case or can identify the suspects, police ask that you call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
