MONROE, N.C. – A suspect got away with several valuable gold necklaces during a pawn shop robbery on Wednesday afternoon in Monroe.

The incident happened around 12:30 inside the Top Dollar Pawn and Jewelry shop located at 2114 Suite-B West Roosevelt Boulevard.

A man entered the story and asked to see several pieces of jewelry, police say.  He then snatched them from the display counter, ran out of the store and got into a 2004 black Mercedes that was parked on Secrest Shotcut Road.

The vehicle had North Carolina license plate BCB-8116 and was last seen traveling toward US Highway 74.

The suspect is described as a black man about 5’8’’, 170 pounds in his early 20s.  He wore a green sweater, blue jeans, a green toboggan and had a mustache and goatee.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Union County Crime Stoppers at 704-283-5600.
