MONROE, N.C. – A suspect got away with several valuable gold necklaces during a pawn shop robbery on Wednesday afternoon in Monroe.
The incident happened around 12:30 inside the Top Dollar Pawn and Jewelry shop located at 2114 Suite-B West Roosevelt Boulevard.
A man entered the story and asked to see several pieces of jewelry, police say. He then snatched them from the display counter, ran out of the store and got into a 2004 black Mercedes that was parked on Secrest Shotcut Road.
The vehicle had North Carolina license plate BCB-8116 and was last seen traveling toward US Highway 74.
The suspect is described as a black man about 5’8’’, 170 pounds in his early 20s. He wore a green sweater, blue jeans, a green toboggan and had a mustache and goatee.
