CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A German toy company that recently moved their headquarters to Charlotte is already doing good in the community.

Schleich, located in the Northlake Mall area, has donated 500 toys to the Levine Children's Hospital.

"We are honored to partner with Schleich and benefit from their generosity," said Mark L. Griffith, director of fund development at Carolinas Healthcare foundation.

"It is because of community partners like Schleich that Levine Children's Hospital is able to offer excellent healthcare and create a positive patient experience for thousands of children and families each year," Griffith continued.

Senior Vice President of Schleich USA, Inc., Don Rothwell, says the company looks forward to a long-term partnership with the hospital.

"It is very meaningful and rewarding knowing that our toys will brings smiles to the children's faces and will give them an opportunity for creative play and use of imagination especially while they are in the hospital."

Schleich is the world-market leader in soft plastic figurines and collectibles, founded in the 1950s when it began producing comic figurines such as 'The Smurfs', 'Snoopy' and 'The Muppet Show' characters.
