CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility Department (CMUD) said a blockage of tree roots caused a waste water spill Monday.

An estimated 2,500 gallons of  waste water reached Lower Little Sugar Creek near 6516 Tensbury Court.  A crew got to the spill within a half-an-hour, officials said.

CMUD crews cleared the pipe and cleaned the area.

No dead fish were found associated with the overflow, officials said.
