Two school buses collide in east Charlotte; 1 hurt

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One person was hurt when two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools buses collided in east Charlotte on Thursday afternoon.

The crash took place around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Somerdale Lane and Crestmont Drive.

Bus number 1190 from Eastway Middle School and bus number 575 from Crown Point Elementary School in Matthews were involved, and there were a total of 25 students aboard both buses.  None of the students have life-threatening injuries.

One person was taken to Carolinas Medical Center-University with non-life threatening injuries.

It’s unclear what caused the wreck.  The name of the victim has not been released.
